Cañonita becomes the first confirmed restaurant at Lake Nona West

While Lake Nona West has already landed several major retail names, Cañonita is the first restaurant publicly confirmed for the project so far.

That makes this a notable addition for the 405,000-square-foot lifestyle center, which is being developed by Tavistock Development Co. on 54 acres near Boggy Creek Road. The project is designed as a walkable district with shaded pedestrian pathways, public gathering areas, plazas, green space, and an art-focused streetscape.

A Las Vegas concept is coming to Orlando

Cañonita is part of the Tavistock Restaurant Collection, which operates separately from Tavistock’s development arm but falls under the larger Tavistock Group umbrella.

The concept is best known for its long-running presence at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, where it has served Mexican cuisine for more than 25 years. Menu staples there include tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, and crispy corn flautas.

In Lake Nona, locals may already recognize the name from Cañonita Street Taqueria, one of the walk-up food concepts at Boxi Park in Lake Nona Town Center. That version serves a quicker menu of tacos, nachos, chips, and salsa.

At this point, Tavistock has not shared whether the Lake Nona West version will mirror the full-service Las Vegas restaurant or take on a different format. What is clear is that there are no current plans to close the Street Taqueria at Boxi Park.

The investment shows real confidence in Lake Nona West

A $4.5 million restaurant buildout is a serious commitment, especially for a first confirmed dining tenant in a new retail center.
