What’s It Really Like to Live in Lake Nona?

Living in Lake Nona means blending suburban ease with forward-thinking design. You’ll see autonomous shuttles called BEEP cruising around, and enjoy over 40% preserved green space with 26 miles of trails connecting neighborhoods, schools, parks, and businesses.

Boxi Park is a favorite local hangout, built from shipping containers and featuring food vendors, beach volleyball, and live music. You’ll find families, young professionals, retirees, athletes, and medical pros all mingling here — drawn by top schools, Medical City, the USTA National Campus, and that unmistakable Florida sunshine.

There’s always something going on: weekly farmer’s markets, outdoor concerts, and community events help keep that small-town feel in this fast-growing area.

Grocery options include Publix, Walmart Supercenter, Bravo Supermarket, Aldi, and Sam’s Club. There’s no Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods (yet), but a Sprouts Farmers Market is coming soon to Eagle Creek. No Costco in Lake Nona proper either, but there’s one nearby on the same side of Orlando.

Schools are a major selling point for Lake Nona families. Lake Nona High School is one of the most rigorous public schools in Orange County with nearly a 100% graduation rate, heavy AP course enrollment, and dual enrollment with Valencia College. Elementary schools include NorthLake Park Community, Village Park, Island Village (K-5), and Laureate Park Elementary. Lake Nona Middle School serves the area as well.

On the higher ed side, the area is home to Valencia College’s Lake Nona campus, the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, and the University of Florida’s College of Pharmacy, which is ranked #5 in the nation.

Real Estate Market and Best Neighborhoods in Lake Nona

Let’s talk numbers. Real estate in Lake Nona spans a wide range:

Sunbridge spans 27,000 acres across Orange and Osceola counties and features neighborhoods like Westland Park (for all ages) and Del Webb Sunbridge (a gated 55+ community). Homes are being built by Toll Brothers, David Weekley Homes, Pulte, and others. The landscape is more natural, with preserved oaks and wetlands throughout, giving it a slightly more “Florida native” feel than Lake Nona.

Buyers who love Lake Nona often end up comparing it to Sunbridge — but keep in mind that many of the core amenities are still a few years away. For now, Sunbridge residents shop and dine in Lake Nona.
